Beskrivning

This is a gorgeous and rare semi-hollowbody bass made by Lyle. The model is 5120. and the serial number is 0137713.  The 5120 bass (made by Arai/Matsumoku, branded as Aria, Lyle, Epiphone, etc.) was made at the Matsumoku factory in Japan between 1970 and 1974 and is identical to the Aria/Epiphone 5120s and the Epiphone EA-260. The bass is short scale: 30.5 inch fretboard with 21 frets with a floating wooden bridge. It really plays well, a slim neck with a nice fretboard radius - it’s easy to chord on it. It has an overall punchy tone and with three-position pickup switch it suits a variety of styles and genres. This is a great-sounding bass! I bought it in a pawn shop in Colorado in the mid-90’s, and I have no idea how many owned it before me, but it’s in lovely condition for its age. This model originally had a lever-controlled mute bar and a bridge cover, as well as a small wooden decorative insert for the tailpiece. None of these were on the bass when I bought it and I didn’t even know they existed until I eventually saw another bass of the same model. There is the expected cosmetic wear and tear but I feel it’s minimal for the age of the bass. It’s still a real eye-catcher! It’s also not heavy like the related Epiphone and Gibson models. The bass comes with a very substantial Epiphone hard case, which has some extra room at the top. However, as one can see the bass body fits very snug within the case and the bass will never move during transport. The bass has just had a fresh, pro setup and fret dressing courtesy of Woodo and is ready to rock. Currently it’s strung with flatwound strings but also sounds great with roundwounds if that’s your preference. (I played it on tour with an alternative rock band in the 90’s for several years using rounds) I love the bass and it’s been a good friend and collaborator for years, but I rarely play it now. It’s been in the case for the better part of two decades and I feel it deserves to be used and heard. 5000 kr for the bass + case. Available to test and pick up in Alvik. I don’t wish to send it through the post. No trades, as I need to finance some other instruments. :)
