SE Electronics Titan
4 000:-
A well-kept professional studio microphone
The capsule of this microphone has a titanium coated diaphragm instead of the usual gold. We'll find out if it makes a difference.
Most large-diaphragm condenser microphones doing the rounds today are based on gold-plated mylar, where the gold is either evaporated or sprayed onto the mylar before the capsule is assembled. This is also true of most of the SE Electronics microphone range, although their new and distinctively styled multi-pattern Titan departs from this tradition by using titanium instead of gold for the conductive membrane coating.
The mic only needs standard 48V phantom power, and there are horizontal toggle switches under the chassis that introduce a 10dB pad and a low-pass roll-off filter. Another switch selects a cardioid, omni or eight pole pattern. According to the user manual, the microphone has a particularly good transient response, so in addition to the obvious vocal microphone application, it should also be well suited for recording percussion instruments.
